Off the back of Lenny Kravitz’s recent cancellation of his Australian tour and debut Bluesfest appearance, Bluesfest have announced a last-minute collection of Australian acts to fill in the void left by the headliner’s departure. New acts include Angus & Julia Stone, Boy & Bear and Sticky Fingers, as well as a second performance by LA hip hop ensemble Jurassic 5.
Bluesfest organisers have also announced that the previously announced Ben Howard will now no longer be performing at the festival due to delaying his Australian tour by six weeks. While Kravitz’s cancelled tour was under the guise of a conflicting schedule, Ben Howard has cited a desire to add new musicians to his band and rehearse: “Ben is a perfectionist and he feels he needs a little more time to work on his show, so it will be at the level his fans have come to expect when he comes to Australia.”
Like Kravitz, Ben Howard was also slated to perform on the festival’s opening Thursday night. As a result, Bluesfest organisers have extended the opportunity to get refund on Thursday tickets by getting in touch with the Bluesfest office before March 19.
Angus & Julia Stone now headline the Crossroads stage on Thursday night, while Counting Crows have moved up into Kravitz’s slot. Boy & Bear, Sticky Fingers and Jurassic 5 also play earlier in the Thursday evening.
Organisers have said that this is the last lineup announcement for Bluesfest 2015, which commences in less than three weeks at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm. April 2-6.
