In its earliest first announcement ever, Bluesfest have announced a handful of the world’s finest for the 24th annual festival, with perennial favourite Ben Harper returning, topping a bill that includes Santana, Iggy & The Stooges, Chris Isaak and more.
Taking place at Bluesfest’s home on Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm just outside of Byron Bay, Bluesfest 2013 takes place over the Easter long weekend — Thursday March 28 to Monday April 1.
Ben Harper returns for yet another encore appearance — Harper’s eighth performance in a staggering and seemingly impossible 17 years — at the festival that lays claim to discovering him, touted as ‘Ben Harper with his Band’. His last performance at Bluesfest in 2011 was billed with his band Relentless7 but saw an unannounced reunited Innocent Criminals instead.
The announcement also carves new territory for Bluesfest as they welcome seminal rock artists Santana, Iggy & The Stooges (as part of their final ever tour) and Steve Miller Band to round out the top of the bill. Bluesfest takes a country turn with Chris Isaak and Wilco, while Bonnie Raitt makes her sophomore appearance at Bluesfest.
The full first announcement includes a return by recent favourites The Frames, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Newton Faulkner.
