Singer-songwriter Tobias Cummings and gypsy-indie troupe The Tiger and Me are set to play a co-headline show at Melbourne’s Trades Hall. As two of Melbourne’s rising talents in their respective genres, this is a unique show that’s not to be missed.
Tobias Cummings and The Tiger and Me may be a secret to you. Plying their genre-bending trades from opposite ends of the spectrum for the past few years, both are acts thoroughly deserving of your attention. Where Cummings splices his earnest singer-songwriter chops with a Radiohead meets Coldplay exterior, The Tiger and Me meander through East European folk via latter day indie-pop structures.
We reviewed The Tiger and Me’s debut record From a Liar to a Thief earlier this year, praising it as a “jovial romp through a jovial underworld, where stories of hookers, harlots and charlatans cross drunken sing-a-long’s.” Meanwhile, Cummings has just put out his latest album, A Trophy, to fantastic reviews; two recorded feats which promise a fantastic Friday night out in Melbourne.
You can catch the Tobias Cummings / The Tiger and Me double headline for one night only with these details:
Who: Tobias Cummings / The Tiger and Me
When: Friday 29 October (doors 8pm)
Where: Bella Union at Trades Hall (corner Lygon & Victoria Streets, Carlton).
