Rank Your Favourite Band's Albums

Been wanting to start a thread like this for ages, but haven't cos I thought I could make a blog post out of it for the front page. Couldn't be fudged anymore. Pretty much just rank a band's albums based on your tastes and their importance, or whatever criteria you want to use. Top Five, Top 10, Top 3, whatever is appropriate.

Neil Young

1. Tonight's the Night
2. Zuma
3. After the Goldrush
4. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
5. Rust Never Sleeps
6. On the Beach
7. Comes a Time
8. Ragged Glory
9. Harvest
10. Hawks & Doves

The only other albums I own are This Note's For You and Re-ac-tor, which are both not that great...so it's probably not really that accurate a ranking...especially since I don't really like Hawks & Doves and am split for Harvest. Whatever.

Paul Kelly

1. Deeper Water
2. Comedy
3. Post
4. Words and Music
5. Foggy Highway
6. Gossip
7. Ways & Means (for disc one)
8. So Much Water So Close to Home
9. Nothing But a Dream
10. Stolen Apples

Didn't consider Smoke and Professor Ratbaggy.

Richo for Bob Dylan and Tom Waits? Leigh and Sam for Pearl Jam?

Cassette from my ex...

So a friend recently alerted me to this website:

http://www.cassettefrommyex.com/

and it got me thinking. Let's face it, for most of us, our past liaisons are best left.. well, in the past.. but many of us have songs that always bring back that certain time in their lives. So say you were making a 10-12 track album with songs relating to your previous involvements, what would be on it? What songs remind you of the good times (I guess the shitty times too). No need to write details of why or who!

For a whole bunch of reasons (partly ensuring that my husband doesn't get all tetchy at me), I'm abstaining from this for now. Even though I kinda want to make one but maybe it's best not to

Anyone?

Upgrading Pickups

Spoke to Richo at Splendour about my crappy guitar that's impossible to sell and he had the idea of upgrading neck and pick-ups to turn it into a decent guitar. I've kinda changed my mind on that one and decided to upgrade my half-decent Squire to become a very good guitar, and move the Squire parts I replace onto the piece of shit and then sell THAT one as a half-decent guitar. That was complicated.

Anyway, based off price and ebay availability, I'm thinking of going with Fender Tex-Mex pickups, and most of the stuff I've read about them on the net has been pretty positive. I've found three decent options on ebay:

1) Brand new ones in the box - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Fender-Tex-Mex-Stra...6#ht_1122wt_911

2) 'Unused' ones removed from a new guitar with wiring, switch and knobs included - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-SET-GEN-FEN-TEX...b4#ht_766wt_911

3) 'Unused' pickup set removed from a new guitar - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-SET-GEN-FEN-TEX...3d#ht_746wt_911

What do you guys (i.e. Richo) reckon about those options? I'm thinking of going for number two even though it's slightly too expensive for what it is only for the fact that I'll have to do less soldering and fucking around when fitting them. I worry about fucking up the others and will probably just take them to a guitar shop which kind of defeats the purpose of having a project.

Do you reckon it's worth getting the new ones out of the box?
