Paul Greene

Wollongong, NSW

Genre: Genera-Alternative

Many moons ago, a writer discussing Paul Greene would have been talking up his achievements in track and field. Today we talk about Greene as a songwriter and performer, a rock/folk musician that has developed a special talent for the craft of song. Many of the adjectives we would use to describe him remain the same however: Passionate, hard working, honest and fiercely independent.

In early 2001, Greene would record and release independently his debut album, ‘The Miles’. With the kind of talent he had working alongside him (Midnight Oil’s Rob Hirst, Skunkhour’s Paul Searls as well as the likes of Lee Maloney, James Fletcher, Cameron Bruce and Gavin Hammond); one would naturally expect the album to raise some eyebrows. It managed to do so much more.

Greene tours constantly, amassing over 200 shows a year, and while he packs out venues in major cities, he’s also a familiar figure in the country towns and fishing or mining villages that speckle this land, drawing inspiration from the people and places he finds along the way.

For “Reset”, his fourth release in just over 5 years, Paul Greene has handed over the production reins to Paul McKercher whose previous projects include Pete Murray (Feeler), Little Birdy (Big Big Love) and Eskimo Joe (Older Than You) among others. McKercher, careful to retain the distinctive Paul Greene sound has recorded the band and vocals live. Bio Flyer.
