Bluesfest today have announced the first batch of artists for the 2012 festival, with rock luminaries such as Roger Dalt and The Pogues topping the bill.
Earth Wind and Fire, Yes, Buddy Guy and My Morning Jacket also join the first batch of acts announced, with father and son Steve Earle and Justin Townes Earle completing the first handful of acts announced.
The curious inclusion of The Pogues comes as Shane MacGowan recently declared his departure from the band and that their planned Australian and Japan tours of 2012 were not going ahead.
Update 10:03am: John Butler Trio, G3 (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Lukather) also join the Bluesfest 2012 bill.
Update 10:10am: Maceo Parker, Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Yann Tiersen, Bettye LaVette, Trombone Shorty, Great Big Sea, The Jayhawks. It’s getting interesting!
Update 12:24pm: Looks like John Fogerty is out — at least for now — as conflicting reports come in. With his name not on the Bluesfest website it’s a safe bet that he’s out for now.
More acts are expected to be released shortly. Stay tuned to Sound Republic for the latest from Bluesfest 2012!
