Photo: Leigh Plover After a successful Bluesfest’s 21st birthday celebration event during Easter 2010 – planning for Bluesfest 2011 is now in full swing. The 22nd annual Bluesfest 2011 event will take place over five days between April 21 and April 25, 2011, once again at the festival’s new permanent site at Tyagarah, 12 minutes north of Byron Bay.
New awards and nominations for Bluesfest include: recognition as an international winner in The Greener Festival awards – for the fourth year in a row – a continuing tribute to the event’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability. Bluesfest has also picked up a Silver Award in the ‘Major Festivals and Events’ category in the North Coast Tourism Awards. And lastly, Bluesfest has been nominated as finalists in the Australian Event of the Year Awards in two categories: ‘Best Cultural or Arts Event’ and ‘Best Achievement in Sustainability’.
The Bluesfest 2011 first artist announcement will take place within six to eight weeks – and fans can expect that Australia’s internationally renowned music festival will present another exciting, trademark blend of big stars, exciting newcomers, contemporary songwriters, cult heroes, soul legends, roots, folk and country rock, hip-hop party bands, dazzling world music – and much more.
Pre-Early Bird tickets at excellent value have been on sale since July 27, 2010 to members only. Membership is free, so join at Bluesfest.com.au to secure best value pricing at Pre-Early Bird rates now!
Interesting statistics: In its 21 years, Bluesfest has developed an enviable reputation for presenting a festival that appeals to all ages and lovers of a variety of roots-based music genres. Some new statistics support the cross-generational, inclusive appeal of Bluesfest – the average age of Bluesfest ticket buyers is just 26 years of age, and Bluesfest now sells more tickets to women than men!
In 2010, Bluesfest was successfully held on its permanent new site for the first time, the Tyagarah Tea Tree farm, 12 minutes north of the beautiful, sub-tropical little old hippie town of Byron Bay.
