Ben Harper’s official website has announced that due to a serious band member illness, Relentless7 will not be joining Ben Harper for his Friday night performance at Splendour in the Grass, Ben Harper’s only scheduled Australian performance for 2010.
In place of guitarist Jason Mozersky, bassist Jesse Ingalls and drummer Jordan Richardson, Harper will perform his full headline set with “a very special line up of musicians that Ben is personally crafting for the festival”, Ben Harper’s official website reports.
With his new temporary band, Harper will be playing songs spanning his entire career, rather than focusing on material from the Relentless7 album White Lies For Dark Times.
Ben Harper and Relentless7 last played in Australia supporting Pearl Jam on their Backspacer tour in November 2009, and before that headlining the Byron Bay Bluesfest at Easter 2009. It’ll be the first non-Relentless7 show in Australia since Ben Harper and his former band the Innocent Criminals headlined Bluesfest in 2007.
Ben Harper and his special guests headline Splendour in the Grass this Friday night.
Last-minute tickets are still available to Splendour in the Grass at Woodford in Queensland, both camping and event-only tickets. Head over to Moshtix to grab them.
