Just four years after the release of her debut album, Mia Dyson has made a name for herself as a heavyweight of the Australian music scene. With her 2005 ARIA award tucked under her belt, Mia reteated to a quiet cottage in Lorne, on the Victorian coastline, where her third album Struck Down came into being.
Teaming up with drummer Angus Diggs (Jeff Lang, Monkeyboy) and bassist James Haselwood, Mia once more called in producer Lloyd Barratt. The result is a superb album with Mia’s classic husky roots sound, this time featuring a defining rhythm. Mia has evolved not only as a musician, but as a songwriter too, drawing inspiration from just about everything around her, and this album is sure to please old fans and convert new ones.
Struck Down is released on August 25th through Black Door and MGM, and includes a limited edition bonus disc of acoustic home demos. Mia is touring extensively throughout September, October and November. Check out the Soulshine gig guide for further details.
