The Red Paintings

RED (noun) Communist, Bolshevik, Comrade
PAINTINGS (noun) Picture, Illustration, Depiction, Art
The Red Paintings are the sound of bloodied tears dripping from the Virgin Mary's eyes. They're the warning signs that the revolution is never coming but also the incitement that if the people lead, the leaders will follow. Each song is a puzzle piece to a landscape you can't see. The Red Paintings are the directions home when it's time to leave. What if we never see each other again?
They're the repressed memories of abductions and alien experimentation that wake you in the night and the warmth that soothes you to sleep again. They are the soundtrack to a rumble between Pollock, Munch and Ryden. They're the cancer you can't afford to treat and the medicine you wish was a placebo. As the sun rises over Hong Kong, The Red Paintings are the light reflecting off the glass. They're the China Dolls and they're here to stay. The Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost.
The name The Red Paintings was inspired by art itself, the ability to create a landscape from every song that is written, songs that have the ability to tap into the publics craving for something new and ground breaking...
The Red Paintings multi form art has been hailed as a new genre of music, orchestral sci-fi art rock, due to the bands mind blowing stage show consisting of innocent violin and cello, band members dressed in geisha outfits and alien suits, disturbing collage of images as live back drop projections. Painters on stage during the bands set in touch with the music and capturing it on canvas, samples and sequencing from another planet and a sincere voice that speaks “If the People lead the leaders will followâ€.
The Red Paintings new 7 track [EP] 'Walls', comes on the heels of a busy 2003/04 with the official relocation from Geelong to Brisbane. The band played a confronting set at Livid 2003 (Brisbane) and Fuse Festival (Adelaide) and then embarked on a National Tour covering all capital cities and regional areas. In 2004, after the release of their single 'Rain', the band hit their second national headlining tour beginning with Brisbane's Valley Fiesta to support the new release. The single and film clip received considerable rotation on radio & TV stations across Australia and stayed in the AIR CHARTS for over 12 weeks. Currently sitting in the top # 15. The band also appearing on the covers of local music magazines across Australia. In 2005 the band released their new 'Virgin Mary Tour album', 'Your Tears are Warnings Signs' which was the most sold album for over 2 weeks in Brisbane city stores without any distribution or label support (now released through MRA Entertainment). The album is currently in top # 20 AIR MUSIC CHARTS. In 2005 the band has so far hit the Green Stage in front of an audience of thousands at The Big Day Out Festival Australia. The first track of the upcoming [EP] Walls has been hitting the air ways across Triple J being added to High Rotation and entering into the Net 50 before its release. It debuted at # 3 even before its release and in its second and third week walls sits at # 2. A band that owes all its success to its loyal and fantasic fan base..
