Freedom Town is a fusion of Hip hop, lounge and acoustic styles, crafted into a sound that is distinctly Queensland. From the self titled opening track, they showcase the fusion and experimentation that is uniquely Jungle Traffic.
'Live In The Moment' then introduces the listener to how much of the album was created, on the back deck with a guitar. 'My Time Away' then backs it up wiht an anthem for the coming summer months.
The middle of the album takes a more serious tone and introduces 'So Lonely You', three short tales of tragedy and struggle. 'What Are You Fighting For' then tackles the very current topic of war, telling both sides of this contentious story. Finally is the epic of the album 'I Hate You', a heart wrenching tale of drug abuse and the cycle of addiction.
Then back end of the album is all about who and where the group is from. Now all based in Brisbane 'Bender Bomb' is a bouncy track with many shout outs to our favourite local haunts. With strong roots in north, tracks like 'NQ' and 'Freedom Town' then capture a vibe that is unmistakably North Queensland.
The group has expanded in recent months to include a percussionist and DJ to bring their Loungehop sound to the live stage. This combined with two MCs, guitar and vocals is sure to deliver a dynamic live show.
