Southbound Festival 2008
By Brad Treeby
The New Year in the Southwest brings with it another edition of the Southbound Festival.
Southbound is a music and camping experience long known to the east-coasters and quickly gaining popularity in the west. In its fourth year, Southbound has once again delivered an action packed weekend of music. Friday night campers saw stripped back performances from the likes of The Beautiful Girls, The Waifs, Lior, and Angus and Julia Stone. Although captivating, the performances lacked the spontaneity of last years Franti / Butler combination and the sets were splattered with sound problems. Saturday saw big names like Groove Armada, Kings of Leon, The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and the infamous Muscles hit the stage, the sun shining most of the day which kept the spirits of the punters high. The continued green focus of the Festival was admirable, and extras like market lane and artbound added to the festival experience.
