The Press tour Australia

USA’s Indie Cavalier’s THE PRESS EAST-COAST AUSTRALIAN TOUR With Australia’s own SICKBOY
Building on the underground swell that has established them throughout America and Europe, Brooklyn based The Press have just announced that they are preparing to unload a dose of their fragmented indie swash upon Australian audiences. Via a whirlwind of blogging on their highly successful Noxious Saucy Beast EP, The Press racked up a bounty of critical acclaim in the US that saw their release flogged across hundreds of US college radio stations (and Europe) – a trend that the 2006 follow-up 7-inch The Red Comes Ringin’ saw continue.
Come March, the quartet will be swaggering up and down east-coast Australia in support of their new EP Milk, and the Times That Never Were, due for release in April. Several of the tracks have already been released to myspace (The Kindly Woodcutter, Yosemite Sam Morning) and the band is hard at work on their debut album, which will hit shelves later this year. The upcoming tour will signify The Press’s Aussie debut, linking an Australian generation to their underground phenomenon.
From the first fractured strains of their latest EP it becomes unequivocally clear that something strong is brewing in The Press lab. Live, the group have garnered themselves an urban renown, relentlessly churning out performances designed to arrest crowd sensibility. With no true front-man and all four band members sharing vocal duties, The Press are a live sonic experience that sees all four members taking harmonious charge of a cacophonous cerebral swirl running the theme gamut of sex, love, confusion and all points in-between.
Whilst layering a dissonantly tight bed of drum, bass, keys and guitar, their niche has been achieved via a playful lack of apathy coupled with an innate ability to avoid sentimental snivelling:

Joining the Press on their debut Australian jaunt are Port Macquarie locals, Aussie troopers and old-friends, Sickboy. Sickboy singer Mark Spence played kit for The Press several years ago when they were based in Atlanta, Georgia. The upcoming Aussie tour will serve as somewhat of a reunion, so expect antics aplenty as The Press and Sickboy take on the Aussie easy-coast (easy was not a typo).
The Press play:
March 7th - Newcastle Hotel, Newcastle w/ Sickboy 8:30pm - FREE
March 8th - Altitude Nightclub, Port Macquarie w/ Sickboy 10pm - FREE
March 9th - Mandarin Club, Sydney w/ Sickboy 8:30pm - $10 advance, $13 at the door.
March 11th - Ric's Bar, Brisbane w/ Granite Lakes 10:30pm - FREE
March 13th - The Living Room, Brisbane w/ Sickboy 9pm - tix $6 at the door
March 15th - The Basement, Belconnen, Canberra w/ Sickboy
March 16th - The Pony, Melbourne w/ Race the Fray 10:30pm
The Press are signed to pre-eminent US independent ‘rawk’ champions Goodnight Records. Based out of Atlanta and New York, the label has set about creating an environment where individuals can bind and work together for the betterment of the whole.
