Melbourne’s powerhouse the Public Opinion Afro Orchestra and Sydney’s own The Strides are playing an electrifying double bill at the Basement on Friday 28 May. The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra are Melbourne’s original Afrobeat Heavyweights, spicing it up with sizzling funk, hip hop and groovy roots. Sydney locals The Strides have been making waves around the country with their fresh Afrobeat-reggae sound and a “whole lot of soul.”  Soulshine has one double pass to give away to this show.

Perth rockers Birds Of Tokyo came up with an idea to show Australian audiences a very different side to the band, stripping their music back to the barest framework then rebuilding it with acoustic based sounds and delicate orchestration.
